San Jacinto
Angie LaPaglia and I took a tram up to 8,516 feet and hike the 12 mile round trip to Mount San Jacinto at the altitude of 10,834 feet. The mountain is located near Palm Springs, CA. There’s a hiker’s cabin just below the peak with extra supplies scattered around it like a religious alter. Hikers leave them in tribute and anyone in need is welcome to take what they want. There’s a log book and even two bunkbeds. There were two sleeping bags while we were there. The altitude sickness made the ascension tough. The decent was a nice relaxing walk down. We needed that.

Nasty Women
My poet girlfriend, Angie LaPaglia, has been working on other ways for people to enjoy poetry. She’s been exploring the merging of poetry with visual art. She wrote and constructed this incredible piece for the Nasty Women Show at Current Studio in OKC.
Power at the Nasty Women exhibition
My poet girlfriend, Angie LaPaglia, has been working on other ways for people to enjoy poetry. She’s been exploring the merging of poetry and visual art. Her past attempts were constructed in a way that could only be enjoyed but never owned. Her latest attempt, Power, breaks from her past explorations. She wrote and constructed this incredible piece that consists of a four-line poem hand cut into a large sheet handmade paper. The piece is currently on display at the Nasty Women exhibition at Current Studio. The exhibition continues through July 30.
The Nasty Women exhibition is at Current Studio in Oklahoma City. The show features 74 local, national, and international artists. Funds raised in Oklahoma City benefit the OKC Artists for Justice. Exhibition was curated by Kelsey Karper and romy owens and will feature 2D, 3D, video, spoken word, and performance art. This group exhibition, like all Nasty Women exhibitions, serves to demonstrate solidarity among artists who identify with being a Nasty Woman in the face of threats to roll back women's rights, individual rights, and abortion rights. This is an unapologetically feminist exhibition.

The Slide
Angie, Claire, and I tried to go in the back way to the Rock Rooms. We never made it, but we discovered a lot of hidden treasures.

The Rock Rooms in 35mm
These shots are a bit of a departure from most of my photos. I focused more on the hikers and less on our environment on this hike. I hope you enjoy.

Red Dirt Ball
Every Memorial Day weekend, Medicine Park, Oklahoma has a music festival called The Mayor’s Red Dirt Ball. I enjoyed it with some of my folks.

Rock Climbing Mount Scott
My first time rock climbing. Stacy Terry was the teacher. Lisa Middleton, her son Spencer Thurman, and myself were the students. We climbed a wall in the Wichita Mountains on the northwest side of Mount Scott. It was another glorious day in my church.
My First Rock Climbing Experience
My first time rock climbing. Stacy Terry was the teacher. Lisa Middleton, her son Spencer Thurman, and myself were the students. We climbed a wall in the Wichita Mountains on the northwest side of Mount Scott. It was another glorious day in my church. I hope this is not my last time rock climbing. I mean, I bought shoes and a harness. Man those shoes are uncomfortable.
I’ve marked the exact location in the map below if you ever want to try it yourself.

Opt Outside 2016
I passed a Walmart on the way home from our Thanksgiving dinner and there was this long line of cars. My stepmother works there and she had to cut our holiday short to go work. We protested Black Friday and opted out.
Opt Outside on Black Friday 2016

I'm protesting Black Friday and opting out. #OptOutside was started last year by REI an outdoor retailer. They close all their stores, and pay their employees for the day off; and encourage them and their customers to do something outside. It's a marketing campaign sure, but I believe it's doing something good. I want to be a part of that so I will OptOutside today.
Introducing some newbs to Crab Eyes
Claire brought some family from Maryland who were visiting for Thanksgiving. De Cooper brought the new pups. Mountain Jesus appeared.

Apple & Pear
I never know how to introduce these pictures. It was another wonderful day in the Wichita Mountains. It's beautiful there. I mean, that's one of the reasons myself and my wonderful group of friends like to spend time there.

I mean, that's one of the reasons myself and my wonderful group of friends like to spend time there. We sweat and grunt and smile a lot. It brings me inner peace. I'm not alone.
The Chavez (sort of)
Six of us went up a route called "The Chavez" and only three of us made to the end.
The Chavez (sort of)
Six of us went up a route called "The Chavez" and only three of us made it to the end. Actually, it was the first half of "The Chavez" and we modified the descent. It was a gauntlet none the less. One of us ended up in the ER and 2 more took the easy trail down. It was one the toughest scrambles I've ever done.

This was my first try at some double exposure retouching. I thought I'd share it.

The Slit Revisited
I hiked The Slit two months after getting stuck in a place called The Straight Up Squeeze. It was an experience that made start dieting the very next day. After 2 months, I made it through (even though there are no photos of it here). The following photos are of two beasts of the mountain — Claire Springer and Lisa Middleton.
