Nasty Women
Power at the Nasty Women exhibition
My poet girlfriend, Angie LaPaglia, has been working on other ways for people to enjoy poetry. She’s been exploring the merging of poetry and visual art. Her past attempts were constructed in a way that could only be enjoyed but never owned. Her latest attempt, Power, breaks from her past explorations. She wrote and constructed this incredible piece that consists of a four-line poem hand cut into a large sheet handmade paper. The piece is currently on display at the Nasty Women exhibition at Current Studio. The exhibition continues through July 30.
The Nasty Women exhibition is at Current Studio in Oklahoma City. The show features 74 local, national, and international artists. Funds raised in Oklahoma City benefit the OKC Artists for Justice. Exhibition was curated by Kelsey Karper and romy owens and will feature 2D, 3D, video, spoken word, and performance art. This group exhibition, like all Nasty Women exhibitions, serves to demonstrate solidarity among artists who identify with being a Nasty Woman in the face of threats to roll back women's rights, individual rights, and abortion rights. This is an unapologetically feminist exhibition.
